Obituary

Harry R. Eberl age 95 years passed away at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington on Saturday April 25 2015. Harry was born March 20 1920 son of Frank and Erna Wenzel Eberl. On August 30 1941 he was united in marriage with Leona Kell in Kohlsville WI. Harry was a proud member of the U.S. Army serving in World War II in the Pacific until 1946. After the war Harry worked in a number of jobs before joining GM in 1956 where he spent fifteen happy years on the team developing and manufacturing the inertial guidance systems used in the first NASA space missions. When the space program was cut back in 1971 Harry left GM and spent the last twelve years of his working career as a Manufacturing Engineer at Orion Corp in Grafton. He retired in 1983 to pursue his loves for woodworking fishing hunting camping and travelling. Harry loved people and over the years served in many community organizations. He was an active Boy Scout leader in Milwaukee for many years was a Past-President of the Port Washington Lion's Club and a member of the American Legion Post 54 in Marshfield. He was currently a member of St. Matthews Church and had earlier served on the Board of Elders of St. John's Church. As his parting words he wrote Best of all were the people I was blessed to meet during my journey thru life. May God bless you all. Harry is survived by his two sons Lynn (Donna) Eberl of Wisconsin Dells WI. and Terry Eberl of Charlotte North Carolina and Special Friend Betty Froemming. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Michael (Bridget) Marshfield WI Amy Eberl Graber Nashotah WI Mark (Rhonda) Knoxville TN and Scott (Melissa) Oregon WI. and four great-grandchildren: Conner and Trevor Graber and Isaac and Noah Eberl. He was preceded in death by his wife Leona in 2006. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 9 2015 at 2PM at St. Matthews Ev. Lutheran Church 1525 N. Grant St. Port Washington. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
