Harold K. Matthews Harold Matthews age 88 years of Port Washington passed away in the evening hours of Monday January 24 2011 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Port Washington.nbsp; Harold was born January 2 1923 in Green Bay son of Harold Matthews Sr. and Isabelle Vilim Matthews.nbsp; After graduating from high school Harold was in the US Navy from 1941-1946 serving in the Pacific Theater.nbsp; On March 22 1945 he married the love of his life Marion Meyer at the Moravian Church in Green Bay.nbsp; She preceded him in death in January of 2010.nbsp; Mr. Matthews began his professional career with Modern Equipment Co. in Port Washington working as a draftsman and later as a salesman. In the mid 1950rsquo;s he left Modern Equipment and began a career working as a manufacturers agent retiring in 1988.nbsp; He served his community as Alderman of the 2nd District for 16 years.nbsp; Harold was a member of First Congregational Church in Port Washington the Veterans of Foreign Wars the American Legion Ozaukee Lodge #17 Free and Accepted Masons the Order of the Eastern Star a charter member of the Port Washington Jaycees and a member of the Ozaukee Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA now the Barbershop Harmony Society).nbsp; Mr. Matthews is survived by his daughter Kay Lynn (the late Richard) Martin of Madison and his son Kenneth (Nora) Matthews of Port Washington and daughter-in-law Laurie (Gordon) Zoch of Fond du Lac.nbsp; He is further survived by 8 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren his sister Beatrice Barnett of Washington DC and sister-in-law Ruth Ann (Jerome) Gerritts of Green Bay nieces nephews other relatives and many friends.nbsp; He is preceded in death by his wife Marion son David and his sister Shirley.nbsp; Masonic and memorial services will be held on Saturday January 29 4 PM at First Congregational Church 131 N. Webster St. Port Washington with Pastor Jeff Suddendorf officiating. Military honors will take place immediately following the funeral service.
