Obituary

Mr. Harold Huiras of Fredonia passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 3, 2018, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls. He was 87 years old. Harold was born at home on the family farm on February 13, 1931, son of Alois and Martha Pirrung Huiras. He attended local schools and Random Lake High School before proudly serving his country in the US Army. On July 10, 1954 Harold was united in marriage with Arlene Weiland at Holy Cross Catholic Church in the Town of Belgium. The couple lived in Alaska while Harold was stationed there, and later settled on the family farm on Belgium-Kohler Road in the Town of Fredonia. They later built a new home and continued farming. Harold loved farming until the end, and liked "staying at the top of the game." Good equipment and a hard work ethic helped make this possible. His motto of work hard –play hard was one he passed onto his children. Mr. Huiras was a longtime member of Divine Savior Parish – St. Rose, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a past board member of the Random Lake Co-Op for over twenty years. He loved a good game of Sheepshead with family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Arlene, and their children Debbie Braby of Random Lake, Lori (Mike) Baumann of Fredonia, Thomas (Chrissy) Huiras and Joe (Kandy) Huiras, both also of Random Lake, and daughter-in-law Laura (Jeff) Huiras-Thoms of Fredonia. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother James (the late Jean) Huiras of Random Lake, sisters JoAnne (John) Heiting of South Carolina and Marie (the late Tony) Staral of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Harold is preceded in death by infant daughter Kathryn, son Robert Huiras, parents Alois and Martha, sister Meredith (the late Delbert) Meloy, and brother Alois (the late Agnes) Huiras. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Thursday, December 6, at Divine Savior Catholic Church – Holy Cross (5331 County Road B), Belgium. Father Todd Budde will preside the Mass. Harold will be laid to rest the following day in St. Rose Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 3PM until 5:45PM. Memorials in Harold's name are suggested to Divine Savior Catholic School or to the Camo Quilt Project, Plymouth. The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
