Harold George, age 98 years of Port Washington, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon. He was born September 26, 1921 in Staples, MN, son of Elmer and Flossie Rice George. Harold served in the U.S. Army during WW II. On May 30, 1944, he married Marvel Williams. She preceded him in death in 1982. On July 31, 1983, he married Sherrill Vaughan at River of Life Lutheran Church in Saukville. Harold worked at Ataco Steel Company in Grafton, retiring in 1983. He is survived by his wife Sherrill of Port Washington, 3 stepchildren Penny Zawadasky of Madison, Tami (Ron) Coomer of Oostburg and James Vaughan of Arkansas, step daughter-in-law Rosie (the late Vincent) Vaughan of Sun City, AZ, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, his brother Melford George of Auburndale, FL, 2 nephews Dennis George of Eagan, MN and Randy George of Deer Creek, MN, his niece Sharon Ernster of Walker, MN, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 12, 3:30 PM at River of Life Lutheran Church, 598 W. Hillcrest Rd., Saukville, followed by Military Honors. Visitation at the CHURCH Sunday from 1:30 PM until time of services at 3:30 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to River of Life Lutheran Church appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
