Harlan "Harley" A. Janz of Cedar Grove passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the age of 69.

He was born to Alvin and Norma (Merzdorf) Janz on March 17, 1953, and he grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Random Lake High School.

Harlan proudly served on the Random Lake Fire Department for 28 years as both a fire fighter and as an ambulance driver. He volunteered at the Firemen's picnics, marched in the parades and was humbled to be honored as the Parade Marshall in 2018. He loved woodworking, riding his Harley motorcycle, and helping others. In his earlier years he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was well known for his great sense of humor and practical jokes.

Harlan is survived by his children Tammy (Gary) Sorensen, Julie (Johnathan) Dippel, Adam (Ashley) Janz and their mother Joann Janz; grandchildren, Sam and Savannah Sorensen, Regan and Rylee Dippel; siblings Judy Hetzel, Don (Rumiko) Janz, and Linda (Doug) Kolbach; sister-in-law Linda Janz; Aunt Meta Harrington. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Harlan and his children treasured the relationship of his close friends Chris & Jim Ellioff and Wayne & Helen Lunde who were like family to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Marlene, Alvin Jr., Joseph, Diane (Bud Sales) Janz, Ron Janz, Sharon (Richard) Schueller; and brother-in-law Jerry Hetzel.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 1:00-3:30pm at the Random Lake Fire Department, 718 North Spring Street, Random Lake, WI 53075. There will be a Fire Department walk through at 3:30pm, followed by a family run Celebration of Life and reception. The family would ask everyone to share stories and favorite memories of Harlan.
