Gordon Douglas Ferrell of Random Lake, WI, passed from this life and entered his heavenly home on April 19, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on July 19, 1936, in Whitesville, West Virginia.
Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della; his parents, Albert and Harriett Ferrell; and four of his six siblings: Albert Ray Jr., Janet (Charles) Howard, JoAnn (Billy) Karantonis, and Shelby (Jim) Robbins.
He is survived by his son, Doug (Marci); his grandchildren, Amber (Ruben) Ravatsaas and Joshua Ferrell; his great-grandchildren, Anya, Olivia, and Liam Ravatsaas; and his brother, Jimmy (Mary) Ferrell.
A Visitation will be held at 10AM on Thursday, April 30th, at the Leonard Johnson & Son Funeral Home (8706 California Ave., Marmet, WV), with funeral services taking place at 11AM. His brother, Jimmy Ferrell, will officiate. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
At the center of Gordon’s life was a clear and settled devotion to his Savior, Jesus Christ. From that foundation flowed his deep love for his wife and family, and his faithful desire to share the gospel with others (Matthew 4:19). He enjoyed fishing, and many remember him that way, but those who knew him best knew his greatest joy was in Christ.
Gordon loved his wife, Della, with faithfulness and devotion over the years God gave them together. He was a faithful and caring presence in the lives of his only son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, patient, engaged, and consistent, always checking in and faithfully praying for each of them. He didn’t just say he loved his family; he showed it in how he lived, how he served, and how he pointed them, again and again, to Jesus. For that, we are eternally grateful.
We grieve his loss, but not without hope, for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8).
The Eernisse Funeral Home, Cedarburg and the Leonard Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Marmet are assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
