Mrs. Glory Richards, of Parkview Lane in Port Washington, passed away Sunday evening, March 13, 2016, at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington, where she had resided since December. She was 80 years old. Gloryanne was born in Milwaukee on March 3, 1936, daughter of John and Mary Jankowski Chmiel. She attended local schools and graduated from Pulaski High School. On February 7, 1959 she was united in marriage with C. Thomas Richards at St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Milwaukee and started their family, before moving to Port Washington in 1970.
Mrs. Richards loved to cook, sew and take good care of others. She started a business making clothes and toys, called the Small World Doll Factory, which created miniature vignettes. Her family says she was very creative and could make almost anything. She had worked as a nurse's aide at St. Alphonsus Hospital for about ten years and later held a position at the QuickStop Shop in Port Washington.
Mrs. Richards is survived by her husband Tom and their five children: Jeff (Joanne) Richards of Port Washington, Ken Richards of Wauwatosa, Phillip (Jan) Richards of Brookfield, Rob (Linda Kennedy) Richards, also of Wauwatosa and Julie Richards of Port Washington. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Jack (Ginni) Chmiel of Mequon, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1-3PM on Wednesday, March 23rd, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
