Glenn Hayes age 79 years a lifelong resident of Port Washington was suddenly called to his Heavenly home on Monday February 25 2013 while in Florida. He was born on August 31 1933 the son of the late Harold and Caroline (Winkle) Hayes. He helped at his father's Hayes Standard Service Station downtown Port Washington. Glenn proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. While in the military on May 22 1954 he married Evelyn Goschey. After being honorably discharged from the military he was employed at Pabst Brewery and later retired from Simplicity Mfg. Mr. Hayes was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local 1430 Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5373 and St. Mary's Congregation. He was an avid sports fan especially the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He started his days with daily walks and bike rides on the bluff and the streets of the city. Glenn loved being active outdoors spending many years boating swimming and waterskiing with his family on the lakes of Wisconsin. His love of warm weather brought him to Florida during the winter months. Time with his grandchildren brought him great pleasure. He is survived by his wife Evelyn son Todd (Lori) Hayes and daughters Cindy (Jerry) Kapp Bonnie (Scott) Penkwitz all of Port Washington. He is further survived by grandchildren Brett (Nikki) Penkwitz Cody Penkwitz Brad Abbey and Conner Hayes Isaac Leah Kapp Maria Kapp (Michael) Haischer and great-granddaughter Allie Penkwitz. Preceded in death by his parents brothers Bill and Gene Hayes and sister Carol Castagnozzi also in-laws Leo and Louise Goschey Robert Goschey Katherine Watry and Dorothy Klos. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Saturday March 9th at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church 1800 N. Wisconsin St. Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10AM until the services at 12 noon. Military honors will follow.
