Obituary

Glen O. Volden was called home on Holy Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the age of 87 after an eight-year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on July 23, 1931 to Ole and Delia (nee Hanson) Volden in Viroqua, WI and grew up on their dairy farm. Glen attended UW Lacrosse and then entered the United States Air Force. He was an Instruments Specialist during the Korean War and after his discharge he returned to school at UW Milwaukee where he met Gloria Luderus. He and Gloria married on November 22, 1956 at Florist Avenue Lutheran Church and together they had three children. Glen was a talented artist. He retired from Frank Meyer & Associates after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed waiting tables at The Colonial Inn for years. Glen was very active at Lincoln Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and was a long-time member. He enjoyed working outside in the garden, bird watching, reading science fiction novels, climbing and tending to his many pets through the years. Glen delighted in spending time with his only grandchild Sarah. In his later years he was a dedicated caregiver to his wife Gloria. Glen is survived by his children Victoria (Bill) Lidicker, Jon Volden, Jessica (Russ) Lesperance; granddaughter, Sarah Lidicker; brother, Leland Volden. He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (2013), siblings, Donnie, Bernice, Helen and Ona. A Memorial Service for Glen will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Christ the King Lutheran Church (420 W. Whitefish Rd. Port Washington, WI 53074) with Pastor Kelly Nieman Anderson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00PM until the time of service. Military Honors to follow. Private family inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Christ the King Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Harbor Cove and Heartland Hospice.
