GLADYCE O. WESTPHAL Mrs. Gladyce Westphal of Mentink Ave. in Cedar Grove passed away at her residence early Friday morning March 30 2012. She was 83 years old. Gladyce was born in Manitowoc on September 25 1928 daughter of Joseph and Olive Hynek Kubichek. She attended local schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. She graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School in Green Bay in December 1949. Gladyce was united in marriage with Robert Westphal at Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled on the east side and later moved to 45th Street where they raised their family. Mrs. Westphal worked as a pediatrics nurse at St. Michael's Hospital for 35 years. Robert preceded her in death in 1984. After her retirement Gladyce moved to Cedarburg to be closer to her family. She later moved to Cedar Grove in 2007 with her daughter. Mrs. Westphal is a former member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Milwaukee. She and her husband were instrumental in starting the OLGH Athletic Booster Club a group that helped fund athletic programs for children. She was a member of Elks Lodge 46 as well as a current member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg. Gladyce enjoyed traveling golf knitting and bowling. She was an avid reader and a crossword wizard. Mrs. Westphal wintered in Bradenton FL to spend time with her sisters and friend Jim Mulgrew. Gladyce is survived by her three children: Nancy (George) Gurick of Farmington NH Linda Westphal-Buth of Cedar Grove and Robert (Susi) Westphal of West Bend. She was the proud grandma of 8 grandchildren and cherished GG of 6 great-grandchildren and one soon- to- arrive great-grandson. Gladyce is further survived by two sisters: Joanne (Paul) Thompson and Geraldine Norkosky both of Bradenton FL nieces nephews numerous adopted grandchildren other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday April 7th at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg. Rev. Linda Westphal-Buth will officiate. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Graceland Cemetery Milwaukee. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 10am-12 noon.
