GERALD T. MERGETnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; ldquo;Jerryrdquo; Mr. Jerry Merget of Port Washington after his valiant battle with cancer found peace Friday evening December 18 2009 at his residence on East James Drive.nbsp; He was 75 years old.nbsp; Jerry was born in Milwaukee on February 20 1934 son of Thomas and Gertrude Fuchs Merget.nbsp; He was united in marriage with Kathleen Herman on August 1 1964 at St. John de Nepomuk Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Port Washington in 1968.nbsp; Jerry was a tool amp; die maker working his entire career at AO Smith.nbsp; He retired in 1997 after over 40 years on the job. Mr. Merget was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington.nbsp; Golf was a passion for both Jerry and Kay and he was very proud of his three holes-in-one.nbsp; As a couple they golfed in 47 states before Kay preceded him in death in 2001.nbsp; In his younger days Jerry won a state championship in archery.nbsp; He enjoyed bowling and playing cards especially bridge.nbsp; Jerry also likednbsp;working crossword puzzles and collecting vinyl record albums.nbsp; Mr. Merget is survived by his two children: Daniel Merget of Santa Clara CA and Debra (Steven) Probelski of Sheboygan Falls.nbsp; Jerry is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Don) Meyers of Milwaukee brother-in-law Klemme (Bettie) Herman of Kennewick WA 3 nieces and nephews: Andrea Lindsey and Douglas other relatives and many friends. Further surviving Jerry are his two very best friends Pat Kernan and Mary Jane Weiss both of Port Washington.nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Tuesday at St. Peters 1800 N. Wisconsin St. Port Washington.nbsp; Father Patrick Wendt will officiate.nbsp; Jerry will be laid to rest beside his wife in the parish cemetery.nbsp; The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4-6PM.nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.nbsp; br /Service:br /p6:00 PM at St. Peter of Alcantara 1800 N.
