Gerald J. Schmit, "Jerry", age 72, of Random Lake, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Jerry was born in Port Washington on April 28, 1944 to Emmons and Florence (nee Schwenner) Schmit. Jerry was united in marriage to Dianne (nee Weyker) on June 18, 1966 at St. Nicholas Parish in Dacada.
Jerry is survived by his wife Dianne, children: Christopher (Kathryn), Paul (Myke), Gerald Jr. (Crystal), Kimberly (Sean Bekx) and Carla (Jeff) Eral, grandchildren Anna, Joseph, Luke, Sophia, Michael, David, Avery, Nolan, Alayna, Henry and Oliver.
He is further survived by his mother-in-law Clara (nee Rassel) Weyker, siblings: Jeanne (Dave) Bichler, Joyce (Dennis) Damerow, Joanne Laper, John (Patti), Jackie (Jeff) Lucas, Joseph (Cathy) and Jeffrey (Carie), siblings-in-law: Ronald (Lois), Judith (Bob) Wiedmeyer, Carol (Steve) Bares, David (Jean), Anthony (Lea), Jane (Guy) Harkness, Steve (Liz), Lori (Dave) Hill, Charles, Paul (Lonnie) and Lisa (John) Reiter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his infant daughter Mary, parents, father-in-law Lawrence Weyker and sister-in-law Marilyn Ronk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel (W4274 County Hwy K, Random Lake, WI 53075) with Father Richard Cerpich and Father James Ernster presiding. Visitation will take place at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium (171 North Royal Avenue Belgium, WI 53004) on Friday, May 6th from 3:00-7:00 PM and at the CHURCH Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Jerry will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Dacada, immediately following Mass.
