Mrs. Georgia Eernisse of Cedarburg formerly of Port Washington and Grafton passed away Friday January 3 2014 at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha. She was 96 years old. Georgia was born on September 18 1917 in Idamay WV daughter of Jefferson and Margaret Shutz Fluharty. She grew up in West Virginia and attended Fairmont State College in Fairmont WV. She proudly served her country during WWII in the Women's Army Corps attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in service she met Earl R. Eernisse. The two married at Ft. Worth Air Base chapel at Ft. Worth TX on October 5 1944 and later settled in Cedarburg to raise their family. Earl preceded her in death in 2007. Georgia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg as well as a member of Rose-Harms American Legion and Auxiliary Post 355 in Grafton. Mrs. Eernisse loved to cook bake and entertain. She had a large cookbook collection and enjoyed trying new recipes when she had the chance. Georgia is survived by three children: Linda (Mark) May of Grafton Marc (Grace) Eernisse of Port Washington and Sue Thobaben of Waupaca 11 grandchildren: Carrie Jo Todd Craig Brianne Jennifer Jill Joseph Jayne Liz Kristin and Clint. She is further survived by 19 great grandchildren 1 great-great-grandson sisters Eileen (Charles) Snider of DeFuniak Springs FL and Margaret Marge (Mahlon) Tennant of Painesville OH brother Donald (Jean) Fluharty of Camden NC brother-in-law James (Carol) Eernisse of Wabeno WI sisters-in-law Ruthalie Fluharty of Nemacolin PA Ruth (the late Clarence) Fiedler of Hartford WI Jean (the late Donald) Eernisse of Port Washington WI nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Earl daughter Ann Eernisse great-grandson Trey David Eernisse daughter-in-law Evalyn Jeannie Eernisse son-in-law Harold Toby Thobaben two brothers Jay J. Fluharty and Roy Fluharty sister Edith Rudolph and brother-in-law Robert (the late Marvelle) Eernisse. Funeral Services will be held at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg on Sunday January 12th at 2:30 PM. Pastor Brent Halverson will be officiating. She will be laid to rest with military honors beside her husband and daughter in Immanuel Cemetery Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 12 noon until 2:30pm.
