George O. Lampert George O. Lampert age 87 years of Port Washington passed away on December 29 2006 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon surrounded by his loving family. George was born on September 29 1919 in Port Washington son of Michael and Anna Schaefer Lampert. George served his country in WWII in the US Army. On August 4 1945 he married Janet Freitag at St. Mary's Church in Port Washington. George worked as a salesman for National Lead Industries. Mr. Lampert was very civic minded serving Port Washington as an alderman from 1974 until 1977. He served as President of the Common Council in 1976 and 77 and was then appointed Mayor in 1977 serving in this capacity until April 1988. Mr. Lampert also served on the Ozaukee County Board from 1990 until 2004. George was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Kiwanis Club of Port Washington Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post and Ozaukee County Memorial Post 5373 Veterans' of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife Janet of Port Washington one son Paul (Betsy) Lampert of Beaver Dam and one daughter Mary Ann (Mark) Zuber of Colgate. He is further survived by his grandchildren Lisa Greg Brian Abby and Kyle and 3 great-grandchildren Ava Tyler and Troy two sisters-in-law Marge Lampert and Betty Wengel both of Port Washington nieces nephews other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 2 2007 at 7 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington with Father Allan Sommer officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. on Tuesday from 4-6:30 PM.
