George J. Roska Sr.nbsp;Mr. George Roska of W. Parkview Dr. in Mequon passed away Sunday January 16 2011 under the care of VITAS Hospice at Lutheran Home in Wauwatosa. He was 90 years old. George was born September 21 1920 in Milwaukee the son of George and Hilda Kruecke Roska. After graduating from Whitefish Bay High School George was drafted into the US Army Air Corp and proudly served his country during WWII in hospital administration at Westover Field in Massachusetts. On November 15 1947 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Thurmon in Jacksonville IL. After returning from the service George and his brothers Roy and Norm became second generation owners of the family business United Plumbing and Heating Supply Company in Milwaukee. In his 61 years with the company George served successively as secretary/treasurer and general manager president and retired as CEO in 2000. The business remains in operation doing business as United P amp; H under the direction of Georgersquo;s son Chip. George had many hobbies during his long full life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cross country skiing tennis baseball golf curling and world traveling. George also was an enthusiastic follower of the Brewers Badgers and Packers. As a young man George had been a tenor in a barbershop quartet and played various instruments. George was involved with the Kiwanis Club and was an active member of the Ozaukee Country Club and River Wildlife in Kohler. He was a loving husband father grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed being with his family and friends. George is survived by his wife of 64 years Elizabeth and their four children: George ldquo;Chiprdquo; (Joanne) Roska of Wauwatosa Dr. J. Christopher (Kay) Roska of Dallas TX Nancy (the late William) Vaughan of Aurora CO and Paul (Michelle) Roska of St. Cloud FL. He is further survived by grandchildren: Lori Betsy Sara Jessica Chas Jenny Douglas and William great-grandchildren: Devan Trent and Abby one sister Lolita Brumblay of McNaughton WI other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Lorraine Evans and 2 brothers Roy and Norm Roska. According to Georgersquo;s wishes there will not be a memorial service as he preferred friends and relatives to have a living memory of their times together. The family would like to thank the staff of VITAS Hospice for their loving care and support.
