George J. Franks of Port Washington passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born the beloved son of James and Anna (Pujanauski) Frankewiczike (Franks) on February 8, 1932. George married Doris Smith on July 31, 1954, and together raised 5 boys.

George was born and raised in Port Washington and was very fond of his community and everything it offered. He graduated from the local high school and thought it was a great place to raise his family. George proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 and was a long-time member of the Port Washington Van Ells-Schanen Post 82 American Legion. He loved taking long walks and was known to be a "fierce gardener".

George's memory will be cherished by those who knew him best. His sons include Jim (Sarah), Michael, Brian (Karen) and Daniel Franks; grandchildren James, Amanda, Scott Franks and Katie (Joel) Gibb; 11 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his wife Doris and son Alan Franks.

Per George's wishes, no formal funeral will be held. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington in a private ceremony.
