Georganne M. Spencer of Wales, formerly of Port Washington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Born in Chicago on May 7, 1933 she lived in Chicago during summer/fall with her parents, Russell and Anne (Miller) Ruh, wintered in Florida watching Russ play professional golf. Georgi met Raymond Spencer at Niles Township High School and they attended Illinois Wesleyan University together. They married on November 21, 1953, raised 5 children in the Chicago area and later Port Washington. Georgi was a loving Mother, excellent cook who stretched a pound of hamburger for her large family. She was a Girl Scout leader, Friend of Niederkorn Library and served on the Altar Guild for St. John's Lutheran Church. She always put her family first and worked hard throughout the years. She was employed in the print shop at the Ozaukee Press, worked in food service at St. Alphonsus Hospital, was an assistant to Dr. Fred Bucheger in Fredonia, a loving Nanny for the Castleberry Family and also worked at the Shirley Schanen Gruen Gallery where Shirley generously displayed Georgi's own watercolors. Georgi was an accomplished watercolor artist, and created beautiful handmade crafts, needlepoint, and knitted sweaters. She enjoyed traveling to New Orleans, Florida, Door County, New England, and Italy. Her kindness, grace and love were showered on both family and many dear friends. She will be remembered for her compassion and gentle nature. As a teenager, she suffered nerve damage losing 50% of her hearing and learned to lip-read. Her children learned many lessons watching her overcome this challenge. Georgi's memory will be forever cherished by her children Rev. Mark Spencer (Betsy), Matthew Spencer (Mary), Melanie Spencer (Bruce Lorge), Lisa Spencer, and Mara Robichaud; grandchildren and greats. Brother Doug deLong (Jane), sister Joann Gaffen and many dear friends including the Three Musketeers and hospital friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and her son-in-law Jim Robichaud. A memorial service will be celebrated at 3:00PM on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00PM. Georgi will be laid to rest next to her husband at Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
