Obituary

On Sunday March 24th, with her family by her side, Gail entered the eternal gates of Heaven. Gail fought and beat breast cancer but after 15 years it returned.

Gail was a loving military wife, cherished mother, beloved grandmother, sister, devoted daughter, aunt, cousin and caring friend. Gail could make a friend anywhere she went.

She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a bachelor's degree in social work majoring in psychology and earned a certificate in Women's studies.

Gail worked as a deli manager for Kohl's food store and Gold's Pick N Save for 38 years. She held many positions in the Cedarburg American Legion Auxiliary Post 288 including president, vice president, and chaplain. Gail served on the church council for Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered for many positions in the community including Cope Hot Line, Advocates INC, Girl Scout Troop leader for 12 years, and the church homeless shelter. She was also a crossing guard for the Cedarburg Police Department for 10 years.

Gail loved to travel with her husband and family. Her favorite annual trips were to Door County, Wisconsin Dells, and Land O'Lakes. Brian and Gail traveled throughout the United States and Europe, with the Rhine River Viking Cruise and Hawaii being her favorite vacations.

When Gail wasn't working, volunteering, or traveling, she was getting the best deals while shopping and enjoying lunch out with friends or adventuring with her grandkids.

Gail is survived and loved by her husband Brian of 33 years, her children James (Sarah) Kossow, Jen Kossow, Erik (Laura) Kjell, and Brittany (Sean) Knupp. Adored by her precious and treasured grandchildren Julia, Porter and Alja Kjell, and Edward and Macy Knupp; sister Carol (Jim) Kenda; sister-in-law to Michael, Craig and Les Kjell. Gail is further survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives. Further survived by many friends including Custer High School Class of 1973, neighbors, co-workers turned friends from Pick N Save and Kohl's, her Cedarburg American Legion Auxiliary group, church group and many more.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents John and Dororthy Andree, her sister Sharon Biesel, her in-laws James and Hilda Kjell, and her brothers-in-law James and Brad Kjell.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran, W61 N498 Washington Ave, Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive visitors at the church from 11:00am until the time of service.
