Obituary

Mr. Fred Pinkowski of Port Washington passed away at Thedacare Reginal Medical Center in Appleton on April 8, 2022. He was 82 years old. Frederick was born on October 25, 1939 in Milwaukee, son of Stanley and Irene Rechlicz Pinkowski. He attended local schools and graduated from South Division High School. Throughout his life, Fred had a deep appreciation for the Navy. Fred joined the US Postal Service and became a letter carrier. He worked at the Western Post Office in Milwaukee before taking a position at the Shorewood Post Office. Fred walked his route faithfully for 33 years, retiring in 1992. On August 18, 1962, Fred was united in marriage with Claudette Lewandowski at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Thiensville. The couple moved to Port Washington shortly afterwards and began their family of three children. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish – St. Mary's, and served as Scout Master for Cub Scout Pack 3837 for several years. Following his retirement, Fred and Claudie moved to Green Lake; Fred worked as a security guard at the the Green Lake Conference Center for 6 years to stay busy. Fred loved to write letters and wrote regularly to his children, grandchildren, nieces and other family members. He was a voracious reader and read many different newspapers and magazines. Mr. Pinkowski enjoyed feeding the critters near his home, doing household construction projects, and listening to his favorite music… Polka! Never without a canine companion, Fred had a deep love of animals, especially his dogs. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing. In all, Fred followed his heart and lived the life he wanted. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Claudette of Port Washington, sons Christopher (Julie) Pinkowski of La Crosse and Patrick Pinkowski of Reston, VA, and daughter Jacqueline (Ethan) Hill of Madison. He is further survived by grandchildren Samuel Pinkowski, Jane Pinkowski and Autumn Wooden, all of La Crosse, Jennifer Pinkowski of Virginia, Aelin Hill of Tennessee and Riley Hill of Milwaukee, great-grandson Noah, sister Camille Mecakalski of Muskego, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Irene, and brother Dennis Pinkowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2PM on Thursday, April 21st at St. John XXIII- St. Mary's Church, 430 N. Johnson St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH that day from 1PM until Mass begins at 2PM.
