FREDERICK C. STIEBER FRITZ Frederick (Fritz) Stieber of Mequon formerly of Grafton and Wauwatosa passed away peacefully at his residence at Newcastle Estates on Tuesday February 12 2013. He was 89 years old. Frederick was born on September 8 1923 in Rosleben Germany. His family immigrated to the United States while he was a child and settled in Pence a tiny town in northern Wisconsin. On December 8 1941 (the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor) at the age of 17 Fritz had his father take him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific and was injured during the Battle of Guadalcanal. Following the war Fritz attended college and earned his degree in accounting. While at school he met Connie Daniels; the couple was united in marriage on June 26 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. They settled in Wauwatosa and started their family. Mr. Stieber became a Special Agent with the US Treasury in the Tax Fraud Division working out of Milwaukee. After 30 years he retired in 1979. Later he did some accounting for the law firm of Gimbel Reilly Guerin and Brown in Milwaukee retiring again in 1989. Fritz and Connie decided to build a home in the Town of Grafton and lived there for 12 years before moving to Newcastle Estates of Mequon in September of 2010. While living in Wauwatosa Fritz and Connie were members of Christ King Catholic Church later becoming members of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg. When his sons displayed an interest in scouting Fritz became an active leader of the Christ King Boy Scout Troop; all three of the boys went on to become Eagle Scouts. Mr. Stieber enjoyed hunting camping and fishing. He also enjoyed hiking. His favorite trails included the Wisconsin Glacier Trail and the Lincoln Trail. Over the years he and his sons enjoyed many trips to Canada to fish. Fritz also loved woodworking; he took night classes to learn more techniques and enjoyed making beautiful furniture for his family. Recently he liked helping with the craft room at Newcastle preparing for the November Bazaar. The most important thing in his life however was his family. Fritz loved to spend time with his children and his grandchildren and enjoyed being part of their day-to-day lives. Mr. Stieber is survived by his loving wife Connie and their four children: Dr. Scott (Diane) Stieber of Lancaster PA David (Robin) Stieber of Colorado Springs CO Jeffrey (Jeana) Stieber of Bartlesville OK and Maribeth (Brian) Starr of Cedarburg. He is further survived by 12 treasured grandchildren: Erin Lindsey Chelsea Molly Christopher David Jr. Andrew Scott Mark Matthew Nicholas and Caden two sisters: Delores Patti of New Berlin and Gloria Meisner of Shawano nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents one brother Clinton Stieber and an infant child born in 1951. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday February 16th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North 1375 Covered Bridge Road Cedarburg. Father Thomas Eichenberger will preside. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Mequon. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10 a.m. until services begin at 12 noon.
