Frank Chovanec age 92 years passed away Friday morning October 3 2014 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. He was born December 23 1921 in Milwaukee the son of Alois and Helen Micuda Chovanec. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was with the 14th Armored Division and the 19th Armored Infantry Battalion. Frank went on to earn a Master's Degree in School Administration from Marquette. On April 12 1947 he married Elayne Luchterhand at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee where they raised their family. Mr. Chovanec was a teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools for 34 years retiring in 1982. In 2002 they moved to Grafton. Elayne preceded him in death in 2013. Frank was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. He is survived by his son Larry (Jane) of Grafton daughter Diane Brayshaw of Grafton son-in-law Michael Canty of Two Rivers 4 grandchildren Aaron (Karen) Benjamin Nathan and Jared (fiance Jenny Scales) 6 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Rose Nitcke of Germantown Judy (Dick) Hempfner of Minnesota Alan (Darlene) Luchterhand of Two Rivers nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Elayne and his daughter Marylee. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Saturday October 11 at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg with Military Honors. He will be laid to rest Wisconsin Memorial Park with Elayne. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 11AM-1PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the National Kidney Foundation. The Eernisse Funeral Home Cedarburg is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
