Obituary

Francis W. Petran nbsp; Mr. Frank Petran of W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning January 29 2011 at his residence. He was 71 years old. Frank was born July 6 1939 in Iron Mountain MI the son of Francis B. Petran and Edith Gauthier. After high school Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957-1961. On September 14 1963 he was united in marriage with Helen Serkowski at Blessed Sacrament Church in Milwaukee. Frank worked as a plant manager most recently at Briess Malthouse in Waterloo where he retired from. Mr. Petran was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church where he was involved with the Church Board. He had also been a member of the Port Washington American Legion Post #82 the Coast Guard Auxiliary the Ozaukee County Historical Society the Antique Wooden Boat Club Fish Day Committee and the Manitowoc and Port Washington Yacht Clubs where he was a past Commodore. Frank was a generous kind-hearted outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting boating and woodworking. Frank is survived by his wife Helen and their two children: Bryon (Laurie) of Findlay OH and Colleen Hogan of Port Washington. He is further survived by 3 grandchildren: Gene (Natalie) Johnson Ashley Hogan and Matthew DeVore 2 great-grandchildren: Amelie Johnson and Chase Duncan siblings: Dale (Patricia) Petran of Huntington Beach CA Val (John) Szymanski of Cupertino CA and Fay (Rick) Walker of Mequon nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Renee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday February 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. Father Richard Fleischmann will officiate. Frank will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington on Wednesday evening February 9 from 4-7PM and again at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church on Thursday morning February 10 from 10-11AM. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
