Francis J. Schanen Francis Schanen of Port Washington formerly of the Town of Grafton passed away in the morning hours of Wednesday July 8 2015 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington. He was 84 years old. Francis was born in Port Washington on April 8 1931 son of Theodore Schanen and Margaret Barnich Schanen. He grew up and attended school in the Port Washington area. After high school he served his country in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On February 5 1955 he married Dolores Wegner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. The couple turned their love of horses and flying into the Flying S Ranch in the Town of Grafton. They raised their family surrounded by Quarter Horses and airplanes. Francis was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed working on projects around the ranch and socializing with his pilot friends at West Bend Airport. After his wife Dolores passed away Francis married Mabel Rismeyer in July of 2006. He is survived by his wife Mabel of Port Washington his daughter Shawn (Lance) Johnson of Grafton and his daughter-in-law Holly (the Late Bobby) Schanen also of Grafton. He is further survived by his grandson Josey of Grafton other relatives and many friends. Francis is preceded in death by his parents his first wife Dolores and his son Bobby. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 17th at 5 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington. A visitation will take place at the Funeral Home from 3-5 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
