FRANCES ldquo;BETTYrdquo; SCHMIDT Mrs. Betty Schmidt formerly of Arthur Street in Milwaukee passed away Saturday May 1 2010 at her granddaughtersrsquo; home in Belgium where she had been residing for the last year.nbsp; She was 97 years old.nbsp; Frances was born in Green Bay on January 29 1913 daughter of William and Sarah Peitte Belland.nbsp; Betty was united in marriage with Fredrick ldquo;Fritzrdquo; Schmidt on June 30 1945 in Milwaukee.nbsp; The couple ran Beecher Meats for over 50 years.nbsp; Fritz preceded her in death.nbsp; Betty was a former member of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in Milwaukee.nbsp; She was a very creative person and enjoyed knitting sewing and crafts.nbsp; She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed taking them to places such as the State Fair or Sunday shopping on Mitchell Street.nbsp; When she still lived in Milwaukee Betty liked to bake and cook but drew even more pleasure from sharing her creations with family and friends.nbsp; Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her two grandchildren: Roxanne (John) MacKenzie-Lessila of Belgium and Scott (Susan) MacKenzie of Mukwonago three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.nbsp; She is further survived by nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Fritz son Robert MacKenzie daughter-in-law Patricia Ann Mackenzie and 3 sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at Forest Home Halls of History 2405 W.
