Flip Prom, of Monroe St. in Port Washington, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port. He was 85 years old. Floyd was born in Plymouth on September 27, 1930, son of Henry and Josephine Krier Prom. He grew up in Belgium and attended St. Mary Grade School in Lake Church and Port Washington High School before proudly serving his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
On October 24, 1953 he was united in marriage with Nancy Thill at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple settled on Monroe St. and started their family. Mr. Prom worked as a truck mechanic with Continental Can Company in Milwaukee for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Nancy preceded him in death in 2013.
Flip was a member of the Belgium American Legion Post 412. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife in their motor home and spending time with his grandchildren. In his younger days he enjoyed camping and ice skating with his children.
Mr. Prom is survived by his two children: Becky (Rich) Meinen of Sheboygan and Timothy (Linda) Prom of Port Washington, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brother Henry (Carol) Prom, Jr. of West Bend, sisters Shirley (the late Kenneth) Conrad of Port Washington, Suzie (the late Carl) Arndt of Belgium, Paula (Allan "Butch") Klopp and Pauline (Dan) Schmitz, both also of Port Washington, sisters-in-law Marilyn Prom and Eleanor Prom, both of Belgium, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy, their son Todd, and brothers Richard and Gerald "Premo" Prom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, February 6th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Washington, Fr. Patrick Wendt will preside. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington beside his wife. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 11:30AM-1:30PM.
