Mrs. Evelyn Becker of the Town of Belgium passed away peacefully at her home Monday afternoon, October 17, 2016. She was 97 years old. Evelyn was born in the Town of Belgium on April 16, 1919, daughter of Robert and Anna Porte Parlow. On June 14, 1939, she was united in marriage with Raymond Becker at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The couple farmed in the Town of Belgium on the family homestead, and remained farming until Raymond passed away in 1999. Mrs. Becker was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, presently Divine Savior Parish. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, traveling, gardening, canning and cooking. She enjoyed drives around the countryside- with occasional trips to the casino- and she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially with sweet treats and candy whenever they visited. Evelyn is survived by her daughters Betty (Carl) Bostwick of Port Washington, Carol (Russell) Larson of Titusville, FL and Kathy (Fred "Fritz") Learned of Port Washington. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Tim Bahr, Jean (Dave) Weyker, Gary (Stacey) Bahr, Chris (Tina) Bahr, Sherry Wicinski, LyAnn (Mark) Schultz, Miri (Jerry) Ney, Ryan (Leslie) Larson, Eva (Jon) Robelia, Sara (Eric) Schmitz and Meghan Learned. She is further survived by 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley Parlow of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond, daughter Patricia and son-in-law Ronald Bahr, brother Marvin Parlow and sister Marcella (the late Adolph) Witte. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Divine Savior Parish-Holy Cross Chapel, 5332 Hwy B, in the Town of Belgium. Father Jim Ernster will preside. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington the following day. The family will receive visitors on Monday at CHURCH from 4-6PM.
