Eugene H. Krentz passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Lincoln Village in Port Washington, where he resided for nearly 6 years. Gene was 97 years old. He was born on August 18th, 1928, the only child of Harvey and Edith (Lindner) Krentz.
Gene served in the National Guard as a lineman field specialist from 1951-1954. He married Margaret Ann Ehlinger in Oconto Falls, WI at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on August 27, 1955.
Gene was the owner of Milwaukee Metal Molding on Water St. in Milwaukee until he pursued an accounting degree from UWM, which led him to several accounting positions. His last employment was working for Milwaukee Water Works as a managing accounting specialist and supervisor for 23 years, retiring at age 70. Gene was a Member of St. Catherines and St. Eugenes Parishes. He continued with his faith by attending weekly religious services at Lincoln Village.
Many of Gene's interests included having a nightly martini, fishing (fly fishing), playing chess, walking, trivia, reading, music, HO trains and watching Svengoolie movies. Gene was a wiz at daily sudoku & crossword puzzles, enjoyed watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune, and enjoyed playing with his grand dogs. He loved traveling with his beloved wife Margaret Ann to many destinations that have included a cruise on the Volga River in Russia, a train journey across Australia, China, England, Iceland, Canada and a Mediterranean cruise.
Gene was loved by many. He enjoyed meeting new people, socializing and caring for those that were part of his life. His infectious smile warmed everyone's heart.
He was preceded in death by his dearest wife Margaret Ann and his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons Paul (Lisa) and Stephan (Brenda); grandchildren Marie, Kevin, and Julie. His is further survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A special heartfelt thanks to the staff of Lincoln Village and Sharon Richardson Hospice.
As requested by Gene, there will be no formal service. The family is planning a celebration of life which will take place on a future date.
