Eugene M. Bichler passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021. He was 86 years old. Eugene was born in Port Washington, Wisconsin on February 25, 1934 to Joseph and Mary (Biever) Bichler and grew up on the family farm.
Eugene was united in marriage to Hermine (Spengler) on January 19, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington.
Gene spent time serving in the United States Army, before being honorably discharged in 1957. Gene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He worked for Simplicity Mfg Company and retired after 35 years. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage fixing cars, trucks, snowblowers and lawn mowers. He also enjoyed listening to the radio, especially Polka music, gardening, hunting and fishing. Gene assisted the neighbors throughout the year with rototilling and snow blowing.
Gene is survived by his wife Hermine, children: Linda Payne of Saukville, Rita (Daniel) Poppe of Cedarburg, Laurie (Steve) Cleveland of Port Washington, Edward (Jackie) Bichler of Sheboygan Falls and 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers: Dennis (Debby), Michael, David (Jeanne), Anthony (Sheri) Bichler, sister Dorothy Diedrich, sister-in-law Winnie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Joseph (Arlene), Vincent, Jerome, Joanne (Jim) Freden, Rosemary and Caroline Bichler, infant brother Daniel, brother-in-law Don Diedrich and god son Philip Bichler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12:00 NOON at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Mary's Catholic Church 430 North Johnson Street Port Washington, Wisconsin 53074. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Eernisse Funeral Home at 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington following the mass. Military honors will be observed at the cemetery.
