Obituary

ERMA DRIES Mrs. Erma Dries born August 13 1913 in Belgium WI peacefully passed to her eternal life on Monday evening December 5 2005. Erma was the oldest of thirteen children born to Louis and Mary (Petesch) Mayer. Erma married John Dries of Saukville on June 19 1935 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The couple lived on the Pleasant Home Farm the family homestead in Saukville until their move to Grafton in 1982. After 53 years of marriage John preceded her in death on February 12 1990. In April of 2005 Erma sold her home in Grafton and moved to Saukville with her son Fred and daughter-in-law Deb who served as her Angel of Mercy Caregivers until her death. Erma was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish since her marriage in 1935. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters having served as Treasurer for several years. Mrs. Dries had worked at a Meat Wrapper for Port Foods and National Foods both of Port Washington until her retirement. She volunteered for many years at Family Sharing in Grafton. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling and reading. Her favorite trips were to Alaska Hawaii and California. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She was known for her special Thanksgiving dinners which she prepared for the family well into her 80's. Her great-grandchildren remember her as the Cookie Grandma as she made the most delicious sugar cookies and presented them in tin containers. Erma is survived by her children: Nancy (Gene) Totzke of Lansing MI Barbara (Francis) Pierron of Grafton Irene (Budd) Humphrey of Lake Geneva Erma (Ken) Wollen of Omaha NE and Fred (Deb) Dries of Saukville 12 grandchildren: Kathy Totzke Michele Robert and Richard Pierron Todd Humphrey Maria Robinson Jordan Large John Jenny Jason and Mitch Dries and 14 great-grandchildren: Joey Jennifer Nicholas and Zachary Pierron Hanna and Dane Humphrey Maria and Nadia Dries Jessica Mikyska Julian and Amelia Robinson Jack Oliver and Stellan Large. She is further survived by 3 sisters: Ursula Rettela Theresa Daun and Rita Huhn and 2 brothers: Robert and Richard Mayer. She is also survived by nieces nephews special friend Vernon Hendrickson other relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death were her husband a son Jerome 1 sister Mary Hansen and 6 brothers: Fred John Joseph Peter Louis and Hilary Mayer. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her always- ready smile was contagious. She was a positive and upbeat woman who cherished her family more than life itself. May God welcome her into her Heavenly Home. She holds a special place in the hearts of all those she touched. May she rest in peace. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on Saturday December 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 145 Church St. Saukville. Father Karl Acker will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church Saturday from 9-11AM.
