Elvira Brunnquell, of Port Washington, a devoted wife, mother, and Oma, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2023, at Lawliss Family Hospice in Mequon, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
Elvira was born on October 25, 1935, in Jackson, daughter of Edwin and Alma (nee Boelter) Marth. Elvira grew up in close-knit rural surroundings. She attended school in West Bend and graduated with the class of 1954. After high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. On May 4, 1957, she married Paul Brunnquell at Immanuel Church in Jackson. The couple started their family of five boys on the family dairy farm, Century Acres. Paul preceded her in death just one month ago.
Elvira had an admirable work ethic and spent many fulfilling years as a receptionist at Century Acres and Egg Innovations, as well as Fransee's Garden Villa in Saukville. Her commitment and professionalism were widely recognized by her colleagues and clients, who always appreciated her warm and welcoming nature. Elvira's years of service exemplified her dedication to her work, and she played an integral role in the success of the company.
Outside of her professional life, Elvira was an active participant in community organizations. As a long-standing 4H leader for over 25 years with the Knellsville 4H club, she instilled values of hard work, discipline, and compassion in generations of young individuals. Elvira's leadership extended even further as she served as the President of the Ozaukee County 4H Leader Association, ensuring the growth and well-being of these organizations.
Elvira's involvement in her community did not end there. She wholeheartedly dedicated herself to the Saukville Parent Teachers Association, proudly serving as the organization's President. Her remarkable ability to connect with parents and educators made a positive impact on the lives of countless children and families within the district.
An active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, Elvira was known for her unwavering faith and melodious voice. She enriched congregational worship as a devoted member of the church choir, contributing to the spiritual well-being of the community.
Elvira Irma Brunnquell's vibrant presence will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family, profession, and community will long be remembered.
Elvira will be missed by her sons: David (the late Robin), Daniel (Debbie), James (Catherine), John (Cathy), and Mark (Patti) Brunnquell. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Elizabeth (the late Richard) Gersonde, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, daughter-in-law Robin Brunnquell, and her brother Maynard Marth.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, with the funeral service starting at 2:30 PM.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton.
Elvira's family kindly requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton or the Ozaukee County 4H Foundation.
