Obituary

ELVERA M. ANTOINE Mrs. Elvera Antoine formerly of Belgium passed away early Saturday morning December 1 2012 at Harbor Club in Port Washington where she had been residing for the last year. She was 92 years old. Elvera was born in Shickley Nebraska on September 17 1920 daughter of Nicholas and Katherine Arendt Kertz. The family moved to Wisconsin when she was young and settled on a farm in the Town of Belgium. She was united in marriage with Henry Antoine on November 20 1943 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. The couple settled in the Village of Belgium where they raised their family. Elvera worked at Lake Church Leather Products with Henry frequently taking work home. She later worked at Allen Edmonds until her retirement in 1984. Henry preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Antoine was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church currently Divine Savior Parish where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Elvera was a great cook; her specialty was fried chicken and dressing with milk gravy. She was an avid sheepshead player and enjoyed her Bingo games at Harbor Club. After retirement she viewed her primary purpose as caring for her grandchildren whenever she was needed. She also enjoyed visiting her homebound friends shopping coupon clipping and a great bargain. Elvera is survived by her three children: Richard (Dorothy O'Brien) Antoine of Long Boat Key FL Jane (Allan) Lorge of Cedarburg and Gerald (Anne) Antoine of Port Washington. She is further survived by six grandchildren: Shannon Antoine Eric Lorge Julie Lorge Smith and Thomas Charles and David Antoine five great-grandchildren: Tyler Ryan Ella Jack and Drew nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and 7 siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6PM on Thursday December 6 at Divine Savior St. Mary Chapel Lake Church. Mrs. Antoine's nephew Monsignor Raymond Kertz will preside. Father Jim Ernster will concelebrate. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 4-6PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.
