Elsie G. Uselding Mrs. Elsie Uselding of Port Washington passed away in the evening hours of Sunday July 24 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old. Elsie was born in Hingham on April 13 1918 daughter of Reuben and Jennie Simmelink DeSmith. On January 29 1938 she married Alphonse Uselding in Holy Cross. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington and a former member of Holy Rosary Parish. She enjoyed playing sheepshead bingo and loved socializing with her friends and family. She is survived by her sons Richard (Michelle) Uselding of Random Lake and Alphonse Junior (Peggy) Uselding of Port Washington. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Karen (the late Philip) Uselding of Saukville 12 grandchildren 35 great-grandchildren 3 great-great-grandchildren 1 brother Rod (Ericka) DeSmith of North Hollywood CA 1 sister-in-law Marie DeSmith of Tempe AZ nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Alphonse sons Philip and Jeffrey 2 brothers Edwin and Art DeSmith and 1 sister Evelyn Lanser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 28th at 6 PM at Holy Rosary Parish Holy Cross Chapel in the Town of Belgium with Father Jim Ernster officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the parish cemetery. A visitation will take place on Thursday July 28th from 4-6 PM at the CHURCH. Memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society.
