E. JOHN RUSCH "JACK"
Mr. Elroy Rusch of Cedarburg, formerly of Shorewood, passed into God's loving arms early Monday morning, July 26, 2021, at Milan Estates in Saukville. He was 75 years old.
Elroy was born in Milwaukee on September 25, 1945, son of Elroy C. and Anna Fischer Rusch. He attended local schools, graduating from St. Leo's Grade School and Messmer High School before continuing on to earn an Associates degree in Telecasting from MATC in 1966 and a Bachelors degree from UW Milwaukee in 1968.
Jack began his profession as a professional stagehand at WTMJ in Milwaukee and moved on to the stage and theater scene. He was very active in his union, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), Local 18. If there was a production that came to Milwaukee, Jack helped with it in some way; during his career, which spanned almost 50 years, he met so many people! He worked the Nutcracker for over 20 years, and was a veteran of numerous Summerfest and other festivals. When he wasn't working behind the scenes to make other people look great, Jack enjoyed taking care of his yard… mowing grass or shoveling snow were tasks he enjoyed. Jack was also an avid reader, preferring newspapers such as the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Mary Ann (Sister Jeanne, SSND) Rusch of Cedarburg, nieces and nephews Terrance (Shelly) Buck, Jennifer (William) Erhardt, Michelle (David) Treske, James (Jayne) Buck, Daniel (Shawn) Buck and Matthew Buck. He is further survived by other family and many friends. Jack is preceded in death by sister Kathryn (the late William) Buck.
The family will receive visitors at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church -South, N44W6055 Hamilton Road, Cedarburg, on Friday, August 6th from 11AM until Mass at 12 noon. Fr. Thomas Eichenberger will preside. Jack will be laid to rest beside his family in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Borgia Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Los Toros Mission in Dominican Republic.
