Obituary

Ellen Jane Weintraub of Wauwatosa, or "Jane" as she preferred, was born in Tulsa, OK May 26, 1932 and died March 4, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Weintraub and son Jeff Weintraub, who both died in 1999. In addition to her surviving sons Doug Weintraub and Ken (Deb) Weintraub, Jane was the proud grandmother of Dan (Gretchen), Carolyn and Curt, and great grandmother of Madison, Phoenix, Natalie, Peyton and Jameson. Jane was the first female to be accepted in Valparaiso University's math and science programs. She graduated both programs with straight A's, in 3 years - amazing! Besides her family, her greatest joy was being a teacher and she got started in an unusual way. In the mid 1960's there was a severe shortage of math and science teachers. A school administrator who knew her husband Jack asked if Jane would be interested in teaching. She took off with the offer and had a tremendous amount of pride in how she would teach. She had students that weren't interested in learning and were very troubled on one end of the spectrum to the exceptionally bright students that she had to keep ahead of. The family would like to thank the Lawlis Family Hospice for their care in Jane's last days.
