ELIZABETH ELISA BAUER Mrs. Elisa Bauer of Crystal Springs Court in Fredonia passed away at her residence Saturday March 1 2014. She was four days shy of her 96th birthday. Elisa was born on March 5 1918 in the Town of Belgium daughter of Engelbert and Mary Thomes Bares. She attended local schools through the 10th grade and later worked at Allen Edmonds Shoe Factory. Elisa was united in marriage with Elmer Joe Bauer at Holy Cross Catholic Church on May 5 1945. The couple settled in the area later moving to New Jersey in 1959. While in New Jersey Elisa proudly finished her high school education and earned her diploma. They returned to Wisconsin in 1979 and settled in the Fredonia area. Joe preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Bauer was a member of Divine Savior Parish. She enjoyed gardening painting and watching the birds in her backyard. She is survived by her son Michael (Daria) Bauer of Western Springs IL and grandson Jason (Sarah) Bauer of Alexandria VA . She is further survived by sister-in-law Janet Bares of Merrill nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Elisa is preceded in death by her husband Joe 2 sisters: Marie (the late George) Jacoby and Leona (the late Joseph) Buechler and 8 brothers: Alois (the late Melvina) Louis (the late Margaret) George (the late Cecelia) Sylvester (the late Rosalia) Edwin (the late Betty) Clarence (the late Eleanor) Walter (the late Violet) and Lester Bares. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday March 8th at Divine Savior Holy Cross Chapel 5330 Hwy B Belgium. Father James Ernster will preside. She will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery beside her husband. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 9-10:30 AM.
