Elizabeth J. Ackermann (Nee Koch), known to her friends as Betty, passed away peacefully September 30, 2018. Betty was born April 26, 1936 in Winona MN, one of 8 children of the late Alvin and Agnes Koch. Together with her loving husband Ron, who preceded her in death in 2014, Betty was a long-time resident of the greater Milwaukee area and a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg. Betty owned Nearly New, a women's resale clothing business before retiring in 1992. She enjoyed golfing, reading, cooking holiday meals, spending time with her family, and of course playing piano (or keyboard), which she played "by ear" since the age of 5. She and Ron spent their winters in Wauchula, FL where she and 4 close friends from Canada were part of a musical group known as "4 Guys and a Girl," entertaining crowds at St. Michael's Church, and local parties, weddings, and other events. Betty is survived by her son Michael Martin of Maui HI, daughter Kellie (Beverly) of Milwaukee, son Robert Martin of San Antonio TX, daughter Margaret (Gary) Hoerter of Thiensville, and son Ronald (Julie) of Highland Park IL, as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Betty is further survived by her brother Paul (Phyllis) Koch and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was a guiding light and source of strength for all who were blessed to know her. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg. Visitation for her family and friends will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11AM until 1PM, immediately prior to the service.
