Mrs. Elisabeth Klotz, of Milwaukee Street in Port Washington, passed away at Lawlis Family hospice Center in Mequon on Thursday, December 29, 2016. She was 82 years old. Elisabeth was born in Koblenz, Germany on October 23, 1934, daughter of Franz and Susanna Dott Bilo. She was united in marriage with Thomas Klotz on September 25, 1954 in Arenberg, Germany. She emigrated to the United States shortly after and the couple settled in Milwaukee. They later moved to Port Washington in 1975. Mrs. Klotz was a member of St. John XXIII Parish – St. Mary's Church in Port, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a huge supporter of the Ozaukee Humane Society, helping out in many ways over the years. She was part of a local group that addressed feral cat population, trapping cats to be spayed or neutered and then trying to find homes for them. Elisabeth was known for her innovative cooking and love of German cuisine. She also enjoyed baking and gardening, growing herbs and items to use in her kitchen.
Elisabeth is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Port Washington, their nine children: Jack (Christine) Klotz of Grafton, Charles Klotz of Detroit, MI, Susan (Dean) LaGrange of Grafton, Patricia (James) Buckley of Denver, CO, Russell (Yvonne) Klotz of Port Washington, Keith Klotz of West Bend, Kevin (Mary Ann) Klotz of Port Washington, Karen (Paul) Myers and Mary (Steve) Koel, both of West Bend, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren (with one eagerly anticipated great-grandchild due to arrive soon), brothers Johann (Nancy) Bilo of Alexandria, IN and Herbert (Hanalore) Bilo of Germany, sisters Dorli (Jochem) Frieze and Gisela (the late Peter) Nett, both of Neuheusel, Germany. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Klotz is preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Susanna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30PM on Friday, January 6, 2017, at St. John XXIII- St. Mary's Catholic Church, 430 N. Johnson St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. She will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery the following day. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington on Friday from 4-6PM, before processing to church for mass.
Memorials are suggested to the Ozaukee County Humane Society or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
