Elfride Buttner, age 89, of the city of Cedarburg, Wisconsin passed away on December 5, 2025, at Horizon's Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, Wisconsin. She was born on July 30, 1936, in Rio Grande Du Sul, Brazil, to Reinhold and Martha Soschinske.
She graduated from the German Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina and worked in the Hematology Department at the hospital. On April 29, 1960, she married Oswald Buttner in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They immigrated to the United States in 1963 and had two children. Elfride worked as a private nurse for various families on the East side of Milwaukee for over 30 years.
Elfride enjoyed time camping with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, sewing and knitting. She was a long-time member at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her spouse, Oswald, son, Robert (and Lisa) of Cedarburg, WI, and daughter, Giesela (and Kevin) of Preston, MN; grandchildren: Luke (and Kari), Zachary, Annie, Jesse, Aspen, and Noel; great grandchild: Lydia Grace; brothers and sisters: Ester, Werner, Erica, and Irma of Argentina.
Elfride is preceded in death by her parents Reinhold and Martha, and sisters Ruth and Lydia of Argentina.
A private family internment will take place at Immanuel Cemetery, in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to doctors and nurses who treated Elfride during her long illness at Froedtert – West Bend, Froedtert -Mequon Clinic, Cedarburg Clinic, Aurora Medical Center – Grafton, and the Horizon's Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.
