Obituary

Elaine M. Schreiner, age 98, entered into Eternal Life on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

She was born on August 5, 1927, in Kohler, Wisconsin to parents Joseph and Adele (nee Feld) Maas. Elaine attended Sheboygan North High School, graduating in 1946.

Elaine was united in marriage to Jerome Schreiner on February 7, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington.

Following high school, Elaine worked for a woolen mill. Later, she worked for an outerwear clothing factory. She was a mother to five children and cared for many others.

Elaine enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead and solitaire in addition to playing bingo. She loved to go out for lunch and go shopping. Above all, Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family.

Elaine is survived by her children Anthony (Ann) Schreiner, Teresa (Don) Bader, and Cindy (Joseph) Fellenz, 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, son-in-law Richard Zelko. She is also survived by nieces, especially Dolly, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerome Schreiner, daughters Jo Ann Zelko and Rozanne Cummings, siblings Laverne Thein, Virginia Zelko, Ralph Kau, John Kau, Delores Kau, Helen Nickish, Leona Scroggins, Elmer Maas, Alice Smith, Florence Coleman, Clifford Maas, Clinton Maas, and Jacquelyn Cesar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. John XXIII- St. Peter of Alcantara Site (1800 N. Wisconsin Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074). She will be placed next to her husband, Jerome, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Harbor Campus-Memory Care, Heartland Hospice https://www.agrace.org/donate/donate-today/ , or Community Care are greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses at Harbor Campus, the nurses with Heartland Hospice, and the Community Cares staff for their kindness and compassion.
