Obituary

Elaine Marie (nee Lillich) Kortenhof of Grafton passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the age of 89. She was born on January 12, 1932 in Bird City, Kansas, the oldest daughter of August and Edna (nee Stutheit) Lillich. She married David Kortenhof (1932-1998) in Bird City in 1955 and together they had two daughters. She later married Marvin Hennings (1921-2011) at Grace Lutheran in Grafton. Elaine was the first of her family to attend Wartburg College where she met her first husband, David. She graduated in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in Education. She dedicated her life to teaching children. Elaine obtained her master's degree in Education- Reading Curriculum in 1978. She taught in the Port Washington-Saukville School District for 30 years where she made a lasting impact on her students lives. Upon retirement, Elaine volunteered at the Adult Literacy Center at Grace Lutheran Church and helped raise her four grandchildren. Elaine's faith was very important to her. She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton where she met her second husband Marv. Elaine enjoyed reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Her memory will be forevery cherished by her daughters Shelby (Andrew) Kortenhof-Struck, and Sharon Kortenhof; grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Tabbert, Aaron Tabbert, Leah Tabbert, and Sydney (Sam) Struck; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Olesia, Arianna and Elaina; sisters Delores Dorsch and Janice Delozier. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior, her parents, her first and second husbands and her sister Loretta Dohmeier. A memorial service will be celebrated at 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church (715 6th Ave. Grafton, WI 53024). MASKS are required by the church. The family will receive visitors at the church from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Elaine will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton. Memorials are appreciated to Grace Lutheran Church, Ozaukee County Humane Society, NAMI Ozaukee, or Ozaukee Interurban Trail. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Aurora Grafton Medical Center for their exceptional care in her final days.
