Obituary

EDYTHE ANN STANLICK "EDY" Mrs. Edy Stanlick, of Sunny Ridge Lane in the Town of Cedarburg, formerly of Port Washington, passed away at Lawlis Family Hospice Center in Mequon on Friday evening, June 3, 2016. She was 74 years old. Edythe was born in Laurium, MI on August 4, 1941, daughter of Leslie and Mabel Hall Holmes. She grew up in the area and attended local schools. On December 5, 1959, Edy was united in marriage with Harold Stanlick in Houghton, MI. The couple lived in Michigan, Oregon, Minnesota and West Allis before settling in Port Washington in 1971. They later moved to the Town of Cedarburg in 2002. Mrs. Stanlick graduated from UW Milwaukee in 1995. She became an Occupational Therapist with The Hand Doctors, retiring in 2010. Edy was passionate about knitting and had worked at The Yarn Shop in Grafton, helping other people learn how to knit. Many summers she attended Knitting Camp, and she also went on tours of Iceland and Ireland that were centered on the art and importance of knitting in those cultures. Mrs. Stanlick knit items for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and leaves quite a legacy behind. Edy also enjoyed flower gardening; she had many different varieties of iris, including some from her mother-in-law that had bloomed at each home the family had resided in. Although what Edy enjoyed most was family get-togethers and spending time with friends. Mrs. Stanlick is survived by her husband, Harold, their children Janet (Jeff) Tarkowski of Racine, Gary (Amy) Stanlick of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jeff (Glenda) Stanlick of Brookfield, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Joanne Holmes of Duluth, MN, brothers Clyde Holmes, also of Duluth, Alton(JoAnn) Holmes of Oriental, NC and Benjamin (Barbara) Holmes of Seattle, WA, brother-in-law Thomas (Elaine) Stanlick of Volcano, HI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her son Thomas, brother Phillip Holmes and her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 18th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors starting at 1PM, and hope friends will stay to continue visiting during the meal after the service. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
