Obituary

Edward Liebenstein, of West Bend, formerly of Port Washington, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2106 at The Fields where he had been a resident for the past two months. He was 94 years old. Ed was born on the family farm in the Town of Port Washington on May 2, 1921, son of Charles Liebenstein and Emma Maechtle Liebenstein. He grew up on the farm, graduating from Port Washington High School in 1937. On September 22, 1945 he married Phyllis Wuertzer. Ed worked at Tecumseh Power Products, retiring as the head of the Service Division in 1986. Ed loved farming, and farmed for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Ed took great pride in his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Ed is survived by three daughters: Lynette Devine of Kennesaw, GA, Sharon Laux and Shirley Henning, both of West Bend, his son Gerald (Dianne) Liebenstein of Normal, IL, six grandsons Michael (Michelle) Liebenstein, Scott (Barbi) Henning, Kevin (Heather) Laux, Curtis Liebenstein, Eric (Beckie) and Kyle (fiancé Erin Aird) Henning, six granddaughters Sara (Dennis) Koller, Melissa (Robert) Rousch, Cheryl (fiancé Dan Ketter) Laux, Aimee (Jason) Field, Rebecca (Zach) Kuhn and Dana Liebenstein, five great-grandsons Caden and Grant Liebenstein, Mason and Dylan Laux and Jonah Kuhn, and one great-granddaughter Victoria Rousch, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis his son Brian, one grandson Jeffrey Devine and his sister Esther Rose. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 2nd at 12 noon at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Port Washington. Pastor Don Drollinger will preside over the funeral service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Union Cemetery in Port Washington. Visitation will take place at the CHURCH on Saturday, April 2nd from 10:30 – 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
