EDWARD A. KOEPKE Mr. Ed Koepke of Milan Estates in Saukville passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday September 14 2011. He was 89 years old. Ed was born in Milwaukee on June 12 1922 son of Richard and Alma Feldt Koepke. He attended local schools and in 1949 graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelors of Industrial Engineering. Mr. Koepke proudly served his nation in the United States Marine Corps during WWII serving in the Southwest and Central Pacific area. On August 14 1948 Ed was united in marriage with Bernice Dierolf at Sherman Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Fox Point and raised their family. She preceded in him death in 1994. Mr. Koepke worked as an industrial engineer with various companies including Wisconsin Gas Co. TL Smith and Allis Chambers retiring from Milsco Mfg. in 1992. After he retired he moved to Stevens Point for awhile before moving back to Port Washington in 1997 and later to Saukville. Ed was a former member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Washington James M. Hayes Lodge #334 FAM as well as the Tripoli Shrine. Mr. Koepke was an avid reader liking particularly the subject of History and volunteered at local libraries to help in whatever way he could frequently making shelves and display cases. He enjoyed being outside sometimes fishing or dabbling at golf but also enjoyed woodworking and fixing things. Ed is survived by his son Jon (Elaine) Koepke of Saukville and two grandchildren: Jaime and Kevin Koepke. He is preceded in death by his wife his parents and his brother George Koepke. Funeral services will be held at 3PM on Saturday September 24th at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. (Hwy 33 LL) in Port Washington. Reverend Marilyn Borchardt will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home Saturday from 1:30-3PM. Ed will be laid to rest beside his wife at Valhalla Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
