Obituary

Mrs. Edna Quaas passed away peacefully at LakeHouse of Cedarburg on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She was 98 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by many.

Edna was born in the Town of Saukville on March 3, 1926, daughter of Richard and Linda (nee Seyfert) Sudbrink. She grew up in the Town of Grafton and attended local schools. On May 1, 1940, Edna was united in marriage with Wilmer Quaas at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Saukville. The couple settled in Port Washington and began their family of four children.

Mrs. Quaas took great pride in raising her children and she loved spending time caring for them. Occasionally she worked outside of the home and had been employed as a Nurses Aid at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington and occasionally as a factory worker.

Edna became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington in 1955. She participated in the Ladie's League for many years and loved to cook and bake for funerals. Mrs. Quaas was also a member of the Port Washington Senior Center, where she was an avid pool player and was well-known as a fierce Uno player.

Her hobbies included embroidery, making large meals for celebrations, card club, trips to the casino with her husband and friends, and travelling with Wilmer to Hawaii and Europe.

Wilmer preceded Edna in death in 2020.

She is survived by her children Violet (the late Jacob) Schmidt, Pearl (Steve) Schultz, and Dale Quaas, six grandchildren: Laurel, Kristine, Sarah, Christopher, Brittany, and Tyler, and eight great-grandchildren: Julie, Ashley, Bryannah, Alexander, Landon, Josh, Addie, and Evelyn. She is further survived by great-great-granddaughter Oaklee Rose, other family and friends. Edna is preceded in death by her husband Wilmer, their son Lyle, sister Margaret, and brother Elmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, June 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church (217 Freeman Drive, Port Washington). Pastor Dustin Anderson will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday, June 5 from 10AM until services begin at 11AM. Edna will be laid to rest beside Wilmer at Union Cemetery in Port Washington following the service.

The family would like to thank the staff at LakeHouse of Cedarburg for their care and compassion over the years, as well as the nurses and staff at Compassus Hospice.

The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
