Edmund "Teddy" Burkel of Fredonia passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born in Sheboygan to Edmund and Matilda Burkel on March 16, 1942. Teddy married Caroline Kiefer on November 15, 1975 and together they had three children.

Throughout his life, Teddy could often be found enjoying outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, but his true passion was always related to his farm. When he was a young man, he enjoyed competing in tractor pulls and was a routine participant in events at the county fairs. As he grew older, his focus became his family and his farm. He took pride in a crop well done or a clever fix to a problem on the farm. Finally, in the twilight of his life, he could often be found gazing upon his landscape admiring a nice crop of calves or other fruits of his labor. In addition to being a farmer, Teddy also held other agriculture related occupations during his life. He was a long-term employee at both the Waubeka Mill and Knowles Trading and Produce. He enjoyed this work and developed many lasting friendships along the way.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Caroline, his children Brian and Scott Burkel; sister Donna (John) Knoeck. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Michele Burkel, his mother and father-in-law Edwin and Catherine Kiefer; siblings Gerald Burkel, Harriet (Leonard) Augustin, Arlene (Clarence) Fechter, and Rosemary Burkel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Mary Chapel, 300 Butler St., Random Lake, WI 53075. The family will receive visitors at the church from 9:30am until the time of service. Teddy will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Waubeka.
