Obituary

Earl Oelhafen, of Cedar Grove, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the evening hours of Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home in Sheboygan. He was 85 years old. Earl was born in West Bend on December 17, 1933, son of Norman Oelhafen and Alma (nee Rader) Oelhafen. Earl grew up in West Bend, and graduated from West Bend High School with the class of 1951. Earl enlisted in the US Army in 1955, and was a proud Korean War veteran. On August 27, 1955, he married Theresa Bittner at St. Mary Parish in Lake Church. In 1961, the couple purchased their dairy farm in Cedar Grove, and farmed until he retired in 1996. Earl was a member of St. Mary Parish in Lake Church (Divine Savior Parish). He enjoyed bowling, and going to McDonald's in Sheboygan to see his friends every day. Earl faithfully visited his wife Theresa twice a day at Sheboygan Senior Community. Earl is survived by his five children: Suzanne (Randy) Parker, Ronald (Christine) Oelhafen, Steven (Lori) Oelhafen, David (special friend Brenda) Oelhafen, and Brian Oelhafen. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren: Joshua (Kara), Jessica (Adam), Alexandria, Rachel (fiancé Thomas) , Matthew, Joseph, Jacob, Kayla, Krysta, Amanda, Angela, Jordan, and Brayden, six great-grandchildren, his brother Jim (Marian) Oelhafen, three sisters: Beverly (Joseph) Hetzel, Kathleen (George) Addie, and Audrey (Al) Weiland, brother-in-law Jim (the late Marion) Bartelt , sister-in-law Ginny (the late Wilbert) Bittner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, son-in-law Mark Buser, an infant son, his sister Mildred (the late Jerome) Vogt, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, July 29th at 1:00 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium. Father Gideon Buya will preside over the service. He will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church. A Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, July 29th from 11 AM until the time of services.
