Dr. Frederick J. Bucheger DDS Doc Col. US Army (Ret.) Dr. Fred Bucheger DDS age 81 years of Fredonia completed is service to God Country and Family on November 2 2003. He took up his new command with his wife of 60 years and his children at his bedside at home. Born April 27 1922 in Peeksville WI son of the late Joseph and Mary Fischer Bucheger. He married Auda Mae Whittington on August 4 1943 in Glidden WI. Doc graduated from Glidden High School in 1939. He then attended Baylor and Iowa Universities under the direction of the US Army Engineering Corp. He then attended Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1950. He served is country in WWII and the Korean War. Col. Bucheger was also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division (Red Arrow) 135 Medical Battalion and spent 20 years with the Army Reserves 312th. He retired from the Army in 1982 as a Colonel. He was a member of the VFW Post 5373 and American Legion Post 410. Dr. Bucheger served the Fredonia area as their dentist for 30 years. Fred was an active member of the school board for the Northern Ozaukee School District for 6 years and helped start up Boy Scout Troop #877 in Fredonia. His greatest interests were his grandchildren gardening and bowling. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Auda Mae three children Eloise Bonds of Green Bay Diana Janssen (special friend Brian Singer) of Reedsville and Fredic (Barbara) Bucheger of Grafton. He is further survived by 5 grandsons 3 great-grandchildren 3 brothers; Alvin (Carol) of Brookfield Kenneth (Joan) of Glidden and Leonard (Jo) of North Edwards CA 2 sisters Mary (Eugene) Jochim of NE and Arlene (Garth) Weiss of Glidden. He was preceded in death by his young son Mark his parents 3 brothers and 1 sister. Doc will be greatly missed by his Scottie dog Mac the morning Breakfast Bunch and his bowling buddies. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 8 2003 at Holy Rosary Parish St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia with Father Dick Fleischman officiating. Fred will be buried with full military honors on Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Fredonia. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington on Friday November 7th from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday November 8th at the Church from 10-11 AM. A combined Legion and VFW ceremony will be held on Friday at 6:30 PM.
