Obituary

Douglas Glenn Rieder of Cedarburg, formerly of Lake Country passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the age of 79. He was born in DeKalb, IL on October 28, 1943 to Glenn and Dorothy Rieder.

Doug's memory will remain in the hearts of his wife Robin, his daughter Maria (Timothy) Roloff, grandchildren Harrison and Stella Roloff, Robin's children, Danielle (Nathan) Olejniczak, Guy Smith III and Pastor Clayton (Catherine) Smith; Robin's grandchildren Gabriel, Rosalie, Theodore and Cameron; first wife Mary Rieder; sisters Betsy (Butch) Stahnke and Vicki (Warren) Braasch; brother and sister-in-law John Oleson and Kathy Rieder. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Oleson and brother Ted Rieder.

Doug's passions in life were work, the water, and above all, family.  Shortly after graduating from Cedarburg High School in 1963 Doug moved to Oconomowoc. He began working as a painter before joining his father's business Glenn Rieder Inc. Over 54 years he held multiple positions, and eventually purchased the company from his father, taking on the role of President and CEO.  His biggest professional accomplishment was growing the company and expanding it to new markets. Under his leadership, Glenn Reider went from a mostly Milwaukee-based slate of customers to national contracts in the hospitality industry. He cared deeply about his employees and the value they brought to the business.

He spent 40 years living on Okauchee Lake, where he raised his daughter, Maria, entertained friends and family, and loved boating and blasting music. In 2009, he met Robin, and together they enjoyed traveling, gardening and renovating their home in Cedarburg. Doug always loved dogs and spoiled each and every one of them. He'll forever be remembered for his work ethic, sense of humor, kind-heartedness, and calming influence.
