Douglas B. Miller
Doug Miller, of Port Washington, passed away unexpectedly at his Port Washington home on Monday, December 14, 2015. He was 54 years old.
Doug was born in Johnson City, NY on April 1, 1961, son of Jerry Miller and Emmy Curless Miller. Doug grew up in the Madison area, graduating from Madison Memorial High School in 1979. He attended college, graduating from UW-La Crosse in 1983 with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. On August 25, 1984 he married his college sweetheart, Deb Doolittle at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville.
Doug worked in the finance and accounting field for many years before taking the position of City Treasurer for the City of Port Washington. Doug was a devoted father and an avid golfer. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish where he served on numerous finance committees. Doug also taught classes for Financial Peace University. He enjoyed coaching club volleyball for the Ozaukee Wave Volleyball Club and playing in poker tournaments. Doug was a kind soul, always taking care of others. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Doug is survived by his wife Deb of Port Washington, his two daughters Chelsea (Nathaniel) Newby of Cross Plains and Hilary Miller of Houston, TX. He is further survived by his grandson Emmett Newby, his parents Emmy and Jerry Miller of Port Washington and his brother Jim (Michele) Miller of Steamboat Springs, CO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 19th, 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 430 Johnson St., Port Washington. Father Pat Wendt will preside over the Mass. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18th from 4-7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington and again at the CHURCH on Saturday, December 19th from 10:30-11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Port Catholic School.
