Ms. Dorothy Rutz of Grafton, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully at Harbor Cove in Port Washington early Sunday morning, May 5, 2024. She was 91 years old.

Dorothy was born in Chicago, IL on June 19, 1932, the fourth child and only daughter of Emil and Bertha (nee Irsch) Rutz. She attended Jehovah Lutheran School and graduated from Luther Institute in Chicago, Class of 1950.

Ms. Rutz was the Secretary to the Administrator at Walther Memorial Hospital for many years.

Ms. Rutz moved to the Grafton area in 2018. In 2021 Dorothy began residing at Harbor Campus in Port Washington. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grafton and enjoyed embroidery, travel and reading. Dorothy was a big fan of eating out with family and friends and had a notorious sweet tooth.

Those left to cherish her memory include nieces and nephews: Susan Rutz, Craig (Leann) Rutz, Glenn (Grace) Rutz, Kurt (the late Shannon) Rutz, Dean (Karen) Rutz, Karen (Virgil) Gramenz, John (Linda) Rutz, Pam (Tom) Gross, Katie (the late Drew) Rutz, Ralph (the late Penny) Waite, and Gulfam (Anila) Emmanuel. She is further survived by 19 great-nieces and - nephews, 19 great-great- nieces and -nephews, 1 great-great-great niece and 1 great-great-great nephew. Dorothy is preceded in death by brothers Martin (the late Dorothy), Robert, and Karl (the late Lillie) Rutz.

Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 7th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington Street, Grafton. The family will receive visitors briefly from 10:30AM until services begin at 11AM. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Advent Lutheran Church Prayer Garden & Columbarium in Cedarburg immediately after the service.

Memorials in her name are suggested to Concordia University Wisconsin.
